Biographical notes
Born in Metz in 1854, Henri Vever ran the Maison Vever with his brother Paul from 1881, the house having been on the rue de la Paix since 1871, and was its artistic director until 1921. A major name in Art Nouveau jewellery, the house won a Grand Prix at the 1900 Exposition Universelle. As a historian, he published La Bijouterie française au XIXe siècle (1906-1908) and in 1924 donated a collection of jewels to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
