    Maison Puiforcat
Silver and wood desk set, circa 1950

Elegant desk set in silver and wood, comprising a paper knife with a polished silver blade and a finely textured silver handle, together with matching silver desk accessories. The pieces are presented in their original brown leather cases, with a wooden stand. Signed Puiforcat.

Jean Puiforcat was one of the leading figures of French Art Deco silversmithing. Trained within the famous family silversmithing house, he brought a resolutely modern approach to traditional craftsmanship, favouring clean geometric forms, precise proportions and refined combinations of silver and precious woods.

The contrast between polished silver, textured surfaces, richly grained rosewood and leather gives this set a particularly refined character. Both decorative and functional, it reflects the elegant modernism developed by Puiforcat and continued by the house after his death in 1945.

    About Maison Puiforcat

A Parisian silversmithing house founded in 1820, Puiforcat owes its modern reputation to Jean Puiforcat (1897-1945), a leading figure of Art Deco silverwork. After his death, the house continued to create pieces in the spirit of his pure geometric forms, pairing silver with precious woods.
