Biographical notes
A master ironworker and emblematic figure of Art Deco, Edgar Brandt revolutionised art metalwork through the finesse of his drawings, his technical virtuosity and the modernist elegance of his compositions. His work, combining arabesques, stylised figures and geometric rigour, left a deep mark on the architectural decoration of the 1920s and 1930s and remains one of the major references of French wrought iron today.
