Biographical notes
A major figure of French decorative arts, Maurice Dufrêne (1876-1955) became director of La Maîtrise, the Galeries Lafayette design studio, in 1921. There he created elegant, refined furniture with flowing lines, fully in the Art Deco spirit. His designs are among the emblematic pieces of French interwar design.
