Biographical notes
Designer, decorator and theorist, Eugène Gaillard was one of the pioneers of French Art Nouveau. A favoured collaborator of Siegfried Bing, he took part in the celebrated Art Nouveau Bing pavilion of 1900, where his creations stood out for their supple, nature-inspired forms, refined woodwork and pursuit of unity between ornament and function. He set out his ideas in “À propos du mobilier” (1906).
