Biographical notes
Nephew and collaborator of Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann, Alfred Porteneuve trained in architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts and worked on the Hôtel du Collectionneur in 1925. After his uncle’s death in 1933 he completed the outstanding orders, then founded his own firm, carrying the Art Deco spirit towards a more streamlined modernity. His commissions include the liner Pasteur (1939) and the presidential rostrum of the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
