Biographical notes
Born in Loos in 1934 and died in Tourcoing in 2021, Michel Degand built a many-sided body of work spanning tapestry, painting, collage and sculpture. Trained at the Lille École des Beaux-Arts, he had more than 250 tapestries woven by the Pinton workshops and some by the Gobelins manufactory. His monumental works include commissions for the Lille courthouse, the Rihour and Fives metro stations and Villeneuve-d’Ascq town hall.
