Biographical notes
A painter, sculptor and poet born in 1935 in Boulogne-Billancourt, Jean-Claude Silbermann joined the Surrealist group in 1956 and remained part of it until its dissolution in 1969. André Breton wrote the preface for his 1964 exhibition. His singular world, peopled with metamorphosed figures, closely interweaves humour, strangeness and visual poetry.
