Jean Sala, a master glassmaker of Catalan origin trained in Paris by his father, worked for the Cristalleries de Saint-Louis in the late 1930s.

    Biographical notes
The son of a Catalan glassmaker, Jean Sala (1895-1976) moved to Paris with his family as a child in 1904. Around 1920 he opened his own studio in Montparnasse, where he blew vases and animals single-handed in a bubbled glass he called “malfin”. In the 1930s he designed models for the Saint-Louis crystal works, where he became artistic director.
