    Biographical notes
A Paris-born painter-decorator and pupil of Puvis de Chavannes, Adrien Karbowsky designed murals, tapestry cartoons and furniture. He worked with the cabinetmaker Georges Hoentschel; a bergère he designed around 1912 is held by the Musée d’Orsay. With Gustave-Louis Jaulmes he painted the decorations of the Villa Kérylos. He exhibited at the Salon of the Société nationale des beaux-arts, among others.
Robert Damon was a Parisian cabinetmaker and decorator of the early twentieth century. The salon suite shown here, made with the decorative painter Adrien Karbowsky, reflects the elegant, naturalistic aesthetic of the 1900s and 1910s.
