Biographical notes
A wrought-iron craftsman active in Lyon in the 1920s, Henri Fournet is associated with the Le Fer Forgé workshop. His wrought-iron lighting, often fitted with glass by Schneider or Degué, combines stylised plant motifs and strong volumes characteristic of Art Deco decoration.
Founded in late 1913 in Épinay-sur-Seine by the brothers Ernest and Charles Schneider, the Schneider glassworks is renowned for its Art Deco glass with marbled effects, created by inclusions of coloured powders. Its glass was often combined with wrought-iron mounts by metalworkers such as Henri Fournet in the 1920s.
