    Biographical notes
Born on Réunion in 1913 and trained at the Beaux-Arts in Toulouse and Paris, Janine Janet created window displays from the 1940s for Jacques Fath, Christian Dior, Givenchy and above all Balenciaga. For Jean Cocteau she designed costumes and masks for Le Testament d’Orphée (1960). Her baroque world, blending nature and precious materials, is represented at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
