Pierre Fouquet
1909-2002
Trained at the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris, Pierre Fouquet worked in faience and at the Sèvres manufactory before setting up his kilns in Verrières-le-Buisson in 1942. He designed, threw, glazed and fired every piece himself: stoneware and porcelain fired at 1280°, dense and resonant, with simple forms and subtle glazes. Winner of the Prix Plumet, his work was acquired by the French State and the City of Paris.
