Paul Nicolas
1875-1952
Born in Laval in 1875, Paul Nicolas joined Émile Gallé in 1893, working on floral decoration before mastering every aspect of glassmaking. In 1919 he founded his own glassworks in Nancy and worked with the Saint-Louis crystal works, signing "D'Argental" or "Paul Nicolas". His acid-etched cased glass won awards at the 1925 and 1937 International Exhibitions.
