Colette Gueden

A French sculptor and ceramist, Colette Gueden worked for Primavera, the art studio of the Printemps department store, from 1927 to 1972, becoming its artistic director in 1938. Her poetic figurative work, full of gentleness and fantasy, centres on female figures and animals. Her expressively modelled terracotta is characteristic of mid-twentieth-century French decorative sculpture.
