Patinated bronze sculpture on a metal base

From the Masques de Calabre series

Patinated bronze sculpture depicting a stylised mask inspired by the mythical village of Pentedattilo, in Calabria. The work belongs to the Masques de Calabre series, in which Busato revisits the archaic, ritual faces of this region steeped in Mediterranean traditions. The dark patina and taut modelling give the piece an intense, almost totemic presence.

    Biographical notes

A sculptor in bronze, he developed an expressive language rooted in Mediterranean cultures, peopled with masks and figures. Creator of the Fontaine du Dialogue at La Défense and winner of the Del Duca Foundation prize in 2001, he died in Paris in 2025.
