    Biographical notes
Born in Murano in 1931, the son of glassmaker Galliano Ferro, Giorgio Ferro studied at the Istituto d’Arte in Venice. A designer at A.VE.M. in the early 1950s, he created the celebrated Anse volanti vases there in 1952, with iridescent surfaces and hot-worked handles. He later led the artistic direction of the glassworks his father founded in 1955.
